Ngoc M. Ha
The cadences of my emotions are often difficult to explain, my work is anchored in an effort to intimately connect to others. Human connectivity requires formal language. My interest lies in how I can overcome the limitations of formal language through visual tools. Through painting and printmaking, I create vessels that form geometric rationalizations as a means to simplify human experience.
My art making process relies on an interest in depicting change through sequencing and repetitive action. The projects often manifest with forms of familiar objects prominent in my cultural experience as a Vietnamese-American. Catholicism, coffee stained paper, passport photos, alters; symbols of Americana and Vietnamese culture shape my work. I aim to create work that can communicate my existence, honoring my past, while memorializing the present.
Bio
Ngoc Ha is a multidisciplinary artist based in Charlotte, North Carolina. She studied printmaking and obtained a B.F.A from University of North Carolina Greensboro. Her select N.C. exhibits include a solo show at Greensboro Project Space, the Goodyear Arts Summer Residency Exhibition, and a group exhibit at Flux Galleries. The British American Business council awarded her a cultural immersion residency for her video work in 2018. In 2025 Ha began a mentorship relationship with Charlotte based artist Kenny Nguyen and currently works with Nguyen as a studio assistant. The experience with her residency at Goodyear Arts inspired her to pursue engagement with the art community and explore conversations of emotional connectivity through art making practices. She currently continues to be involved with Charlotte’s art community through her involvement as a collective member at Goodyear. Ha delves into multiple mediums as research-based experiments to further investigate conversations voided of human speech. She currently works with printmaking, video installation, and painting utilizing oil and acrylic on canvas, water-soluble paints, and ink on 16mm film.
